May Flowers

HAPPY SPRING!!!  AND REALLY, ALMOST SUMMER...not too bad for where I live.

The theme for this months duel was May Flowers.  Our hostess this month for the Dazzlers was Terry and she sent a great kit.

The kit included:
  • Image - SU! "Love Is Kindness"
  • DP - The Paper Studio
  • Cardstock - Core'dinations "Sea Foam", "Merry" and "Jet Stream"
  • Enamel Dots - Want 2 Scrap
  • Trim - Michaels
  • Flowers - Spare Parts
I used Deconstructed Sketch 192 for my layout.

So here is my card:

As an extra to our blog post we are supposed to share what we like to plant in your garden. I plant a lot of pansies because they are tough flowers and they need to be if I am taking care of them.  Too bad there is not a flower you can just plant and forget.  I would be a great gardner then!  ;)  But my favorite flowers are Star Gazer Lilies and Daisies.  I love Daisies in all different colors they are just such cheerful flowers.

YAY!!! YAY!!! YAY!!!

The snow is gone, the sun is shining and the trees are starting to bud!!!  The Dueling Darlings are welcoming spring with this month's duel.  The theme for our April challenge is "Swing Into Spring."

I actually made two cards with the my kit.

An extra challenge was to post my favorite dessert at Easter or a springtime get together.  My favorite dessert would be...oh, which one?....probably my most favorite dessert at any holiday or any day of the year, raspberry pie!!!!! with some vanilla ice cream.  But then there are chocolate frosted brownies...with some vanilla ice cream. ;)

March Duel

Good Afternoon...

The theme for the Dueling Darlings this month is "for the dogs."

I do not have many of the kit details but do know that the images used were from Stampin' Up! and Hero Arts.

Here is my pocket card...

We had many dogs when I was growing up.  After I had children of my own, I had one that had a snake, tarantula and scorpion.  They are just not quite as warm and fuzzy as puppies.

February Duel

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day!

The Dueling Darlings theme for February is...♥ Being a kid at heart ♥

Our challenge was:
"you must create a kid card and,
somewhere on your card, you must also display one heart ♥
As well, we request that you gift your card to a boy or a girl you know"

(But...I displayed more than one heart...)

Brown 1 pound hamburger with 2 stalks of celery and 1 1/4 cup of onion.  Then add 1 large can of tomato soup and 1 large can of beans (either chili beans or kidney beans) and cook for 10 minutes.
Make a paste of 2T chili powder, 1T flour, 1tsp salt and 3T water.  Stir paste into chili and simmer 45 minutes.

Tutti Fruitti Dessert Recipe (I found this receipe on MrFood.com)
  • 1 (16.5-ounce) package refrigerated sugar cookie dough, cut into 1/2-inch slices
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar, divided
  • 3 tablespoons refrigerated hazelnut coffee creamer, divided
  • 2 cups frozen or fresh sliced peaches
  • 1 cup frozen or fresh sliced strawberries
  • 1 cup frozen or fresh blackberries
  • 1/2 cup frozen or fresh blueberries
  • 2 tangerines, peeled and separated into segments
  • 1 kiwi, peeled and sliced
What To Do:
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 12-inch pizza pan with cooking spray.
  2. Place cookie slices on pan and press together with lightly floured fingers, forming 1 large cookie.
  3. Bake 9 to 11 minutes, or until top is light golden; let cool.
  4. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, beat cream cheese, 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar, and 2 tablespoons hazelnut creamer until fluffy. Spread cream cheese mixture over cooled cookie dough and top with assorted fruit.
  5. In a small bowl, mix remaining confectioners' sugar and remaining hazelnut creamer. Drizzle over fruit, slice, and serve.
